Sensible Redesign was founded in 2012 by Tera Hampton, inspired by her time competing on HGTV’s Design Star. With a mission to help people create beautiful homes while navigating the process within a “sensible” budget, Tera laid the foundation for what would become a thriving family business. 

From the start, Tera’s youngest daughters, Macey and McCall, shared her passion for design and staging, inspired by their mother to follow in her footsteps. Macey joined Sensible Redesign full-time in 2019 after graduating from Texas A&M. In 2020, Macey and her husband, Austin Horst, opened the company’s Houston branch, expanding Sensible Redesign’s reach and influence. 

In 2022, Tera stepped down from her leadership role to spend more time with her grandchildren, entrusting Macey and Austin to lead the company. Together, they oversaw operations in both Austin and Houston, ushering the business into a period of significant growth. In January 2023, Austin transitioned from a career in the luxury automotive industry to focus full-time on managing daily operations, strategic goals, and vendor relations. Shortly thereafter, in June 2023, McCall joined the team as the lead designer for the Austin branch.
